If you’re are talking about rookies then
1. Film – Although I sometimes don’t trust my own eyes. I especially look for vision, jump-cut and whether they are hands or arms catchers. I stop and start it and watch the flight of the ball to the catch point.
2. Combined rankings from multiple sites – Smitty weighted but his are losing weight
3. Metrics / Relative Athletic Score (RAS) / Particularly 10-Yard, Shuttle, 3-Cone times and Bench Reps. I STILL have disdain for McCaffreys WHOPPING 10 REPS / Weight adjusted speed scores
4. NFL grade / Draft spot (team and round) / Prospective depth chart
5. School / Conference – Power 5 particularly SEC
6. Age – I don’t give a RAT’S RUMP about only looking ahead 3 years. I generally don’t draft rookie RBs over age 22 – Took Achane (21) Abanikanda (20) and Tucker (21)
7. Injury / Character concerns
Every one of those items goes on my Excel spreadsheet with color-coding
